Another fabulous summer weekend at Jessica's lake house in Big Lake, Alaska. We gathered to celebrate her birthday. Note how Scarlet O'Subaru is proving her metal (and see Greg's slick roadster in the background?).

We bought a ton of fireworks. And we had a LOT of fun with them.

There is a view of the house...

Me and Greg by the fire...

The Stevens brothers after an epic four-wheeling trip. Brad looks that muddy because he had to help so many people out of the mud. In fact, they were the only duo that didn't get stuck.

And the Stevens brothers cleaning the four-wheelers after their adventure...

Look who showed up! OMG it's Trixie Brogan. Call Page 6. Stat.

Here's Alu and Annie and their baby, Shane... Very cool fam. Super laid-back kiddo.

A view of the lawn, some of the dogs that showed up...

Jessica's cousin Forest brought this amazing steak and Greg grilled delicious asparagus. We ate well. As always.

Alu and Greg pose in front of the house. The fire burns on.

This was us in the car on the way out - John driving, me riding shotgun, Brad hanging out in the back.

Kayaking was a big thing this weekend. I loved being out on the water.

Love this dog. His name is Chico and he was a rescued pup and belongs to Jessica's cousin Forest and his wife Mandy.

Kirsten and Trixie being cute... As usual...

Trixie's close up!! Super adorable baby.
Spotted today in Fairbanks....

More action from my favorite coworkers, the Cubes! Here we have the IT Department....

And here (above) some of the Corporate Zombies ("BRAAAAINS!") are attacking... They do glow in the dark, by the way.

An aerial view. I have added carpet as you can see. In the lower left we have the break room. On the right, the IT department (with a head-spinning break-dancing corporate zombie). And the upper half are offices...

Here comes UPS guy!

Notice that this dark-haired employee is playing SNOOD!!!

The Zombies are coming!!!

Many of you know my childhood superfriend (a level up from "best friend!") Alisa. Today she and her awesome husband live in the Seattle area with their gorgeous kiddo, pictured here. I've yet to meet the little guy and a family member recently complained that she had yet to see photos of him, so I am posting them here, as many of you know Alisa too.

I snapped this photo yesterday with my Blackberry in Valdez. I had just left Alyeska's Valdez Marine Terminal, located on the south shore of Port Valdez on Prince William Sound. A lot of black bears call this area home, so I always make it a point to look for them, and depending on the time of the year, they are fairly easy to see. So anyway, I had just left the terminal, and the security checkpoint, and rounded the corner to see the bear above. He was on the road's shoulder, on the passenger side of my car. A magnificent bear -- looked a tad scrawny after the long winter. Despite being snugly inside a car, I admit my heart pounded a bit to be so near him -- maybe eight feet, tops.
